Hi again. I'm Sam, a full-time RVer and part-time web-surfer, here to tell you of more interesting web sites about RVs and the RV lifestyle. Welcome to RV Travel Links, an alternative to loading all those web-sites that have the word RV in their title but really have no content of interest.
Today I have seven stops you will want to visit from your armchair, even if it is in a motorhome or fifth-wheel. They are worth bookmarking so you can go back many times in the future.
Over the years John Crossley has prepared a fabulous award-winning web site entitled The American Southwest at http://www.americansouthwest.net/ where he directs you to the scenic wonders of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. His photography is outstanding, and the places he has gone are spectacular. Does it sound like I am over-enthusing? Go check it out. You may have to park your RV in the flatlands and then drive your towed to see some of these sights, but at least you will know where they are.
A great site for keeping up with some of the travelers on the road can be found at http://camping.about.com/blroadnews.htm courtesy of David Sweet, the Camping Guide at About.Com. Other parts to his site provide useful information on camping in general. Check it all out while you are there.
Maybe you have already decided you are getting into RVs, but wonder which one to buy. The rvNetLinx list of RV Manufacturers at http://www.rvnetlinx.com/manufact.htm will help you check out the different brands. This site links to most manufacturers. Generally the manufacturer's site provides a map and/or contact information. Some even have floor plans for their different models. Sorry, I didn't see any prices; you have to call for that information.
RVers and campers can always use more information, and much of that is available in books. For a great supply of camping, travel, and RV books, check out http://www.cottagepub.com/bookstore.html. Here you can buy books at a discount, and while their selection is small, it includes some of the better books for the RVer you can find.
For those of you who like festivals and jubilees, a great up-to-date list can be found at http://www.fulltiming-america.com/festivals/. They even list festivals in Europe. The list tells about events up to a year in the future, and they solicit festivals that are not listed to send information. If your favorite festival is not listed, pass this web site address along to the festival's director and tell them to get a listing.
I have found another fun site you should like at http://www.boondocker.com/index.html. The site is labeled the Hi-Teck Camping Site and takes pride in downloading in eleven seconds, which is very, very good compared to some sites I have visited. There you will find links to travelogues, advice, and a set of tips for some of the really important things in your RV life, like how to repel mosquitoes and cure poison ivy. In addition, the site includes a summary of gasoline and diesel fuel prices across the country. You can help by reporting what you paid at the pump.
Finally, one of the great mega-sites for campers and RVers is GORP, the Great American Recreational Pages found at http://www.gorp.com/gorp/resource/main.htm. Here you will find an ongoing set of reviews of great places to visit in America as well as links to much other useful information. This is a must visit, and be sure to bookmark it while you are there.
Well, that's all I have for now. Check this spot next time for some more great web sites for RVers. And if you are traveling, maybe we will see each other somewhere down the road. Drive safely.
